Bell Babe

For those of you who know me and/or have followed along with my blog for awhile, you know that I love the 70's. So much of my inspiration for photo shoots and just my style in general comes from the 70's.

I am all about bell bottoms when it comes to pants, so give me a shirt with bell sleeves and I am done for. Honesty hour...I do my very best to try and not wear product too much before I shoot in it so that it looks nice and new for the pictures ya know?! (cause I am also a spill queen and can't eat/drink like a proper lady to save my life). Anyway, I wore this top so many times before shooting, I lost count. It is literally my favorite top in my closet right now. I dress it up, I dress it down, I even wore it for my 21st birthday when I went out! Like this top should be honored that it was selected to be my 21st birthday outing outfit, cause we all know how important that decision is.

Summer Necessities

Living in the PNW seriously SUCKS sometimes. It's beautiful here, but we get like maybe two months of summer weather and then it just rains all the time again. This year, it has been extra painful. This is like the first week with not just sun, but warm temperatures to go along with that! FINALLY! It has been sunny from time to time, but it's just a tease, cause the temperature has stayed in the 60's for the most part. This next week though... the weather is supposed to be in the 70's and 80's. Praise Jesus. 

This is why I'm sharing my TOP 3 favorite summer must haves. My new favorite online oasis has become TOBI. The products honestly are amazing. I don't like promoting products that I don't believe in and I don't care to gas up a company that doesn't seem worth the hassle. But with Tobi, from start to finish, my experience has been amazing. The shipping was incredibly fast, the products look even better in person, and the quality is outstanding.

I'll start with look number one. My goal for this summer is to just be comfortable and cute (honestly, that's my goal all the time cause comfort is like my main priority). I was telling a friend that I think I may just invest into a large quantity of muumuus and belts and just let my summer wardrobe consist of that. Luckily though, I have been able to achieve my goal of comfort and cuteness without visiting the women's muumuu department (yet) thanks to Tobi! This little sundress is the easiest thing to slip on. It's flowly and not at all form fitting, which many of us women can appreciate, especially after a large meal from afternoon brunch with the girls. Cause we know those always result in group pictures AFTER YOU'VE STUFFED YOUR FACE. But in this dress... eat up ladies, eat up. Oh, and if you weren't already sold, this dress has pockets. Just sayin'. 

Look number two... the suspenders maxi skirt. I saw this and was like... "hm, thats different and funky, lets give it a try!" Out of all three pieces, this one is my favorite. The adjustable straps make it an easy fit, (which I was honestly worried about, being a smaller individual, a lot of straps end up being too big and just fall right off). This skirt is so comfortable though, with big pockets and a slit in the back so its easy to maneuver around in. (Getting in and out of the car with a tight skirt on is a real life issue, friends.)

Look number three... Oh boy. This is the piece that I have gotten the most use out of already! It's amazing for cooler days or evenings when you know it's going to be a little chillier out, but you don't necessarily want to just throw on a jacket. I can't wait for summer nights around bonfires or beach trips, because this giant sweatshirt will be absolutely perfect. Going to Cannon Beach numerous times throughout the year is a tradition for my family. During the summer, it gets warmer, but it's nothing like Southern Cali. I'm just looking forward to being able to throw it over my bathing suit while on the beach, leaving the sides unzipped so its almost more like a sweatshirt tunic! That's the best part about this piece. The zippers  help you mix it up, you can make it a little sexier, or keep it simple and cozy. (There's that cute and cozy factor again.)

Haunted

There is indeed a reason why I titled this post "Haunted" and it is completely irrelevant to the topic of fashion, but nonetheless I thought it was fitting. Let me give you a little what goes on behind the scenes...

I had seen this old rickety house almost daily as I would have to drive by it to get in and out of the valley. I thought it was beautiful and sad that such a pretty home would be left for ruins. I decided that I wanted to use it for a shoot, in all its dilapidated glory. What was strange about this place though, was that almost every time I would drive by it late at night, a light would be shining through the upstairs windows. I'd wonder to myself, "that makes no sense... It's abandoned, how is the electricity not shut off? And who is turning the lights on every night?"

Even after Kelsey and I shot here, and scoped the house out a little bit, the lights would still be shining at night. When I told Kelsey about this, she paused and said, "Okay... I have to tell you something. When I was editing your pictures, I swear I saw a face in the window in the background of a photo." This immediately sent chills down my spine. She showed me the picture, and I saw it. A shadowy silhouette of what could be just a simple reflection mixed with our crazy creative imaginations, or who knows... maybe the silhouette was more than just the sun glistening on the window. To state the obvious, she edited out our little friend, so don't bother studying the pictures to see if you too can catch a glimpse.

But enough of my little tales, the real reason why you're here is fashion, right? But what's fashion without a little mystery? My current favorite go to for this (slowly but surely progressing) warm weather would be wrap dresses. Now as for the possible haunted house, Kelsey and I rebuked any evil spirits in the name of Jesus and agreed that maybe we won't be returning to this location. Either way, the aesthetic for the shoot turned out pretty cool, eh??
